About Us

Journeymen Wrestling was founded by Frank Popolizio of Niskayuna, NY. The main reason it came to fruition was to act as a proverbial bridge in promoting collegiate wrestling. Since the Capital Region of NY is without Collegiate Wrestling, there wasn’t a strong influence inspiring athletes to wrestle in college. Years later, that has changed – several athletes have now made that transition into the college ranks, while others simply enjoy the amateur wrestling experience.

Through Journeymen Athletics, LLC (1999) and Journeymen Wrestling Club, LTD 501 ( C ) (3) / Non- Profit (2004), we have built a forum and platform to positively influence and inspire the youth of our community on a daily basis. Our organization looks to include and help all interested parties. We have worked tirelessly to remove economics from the sport and ensure that financial issues never prevent an athlete from meeting a hero, role model or stand in the way of an opportunity to train and compete. Tradition - We take pride in introducing the younger generation of athletes to the greats and legends of our sport and tie one generation into the next; essentially establish a tradition of winning and excellence. Journeymen Wrestling has initiated a four step approach that emphasizes constant contact and dialogue with Olympic and NCAA Champions: Clubs, Camps, Clinics and Competitions. Through our 4 divisions, young athletes can’t help but to find positive role models to emulate and eventually aspire to follow. The four “C’s”create a well designed formula for our athletes to succeed.
